Greene County residents had a reprieve from heat and humidity midweek, only to have both return by the end of the week.
According to volunteer weather observer John Beltz, high temperature for the week in Jefferson was 91 degrees; low temperature was 56. Just more than a half-inch of rain fell in a downpour Monday morning. Because Beltz records data for the 24 hours preceding 6 am, the rainfall shows as being on July 21.
